GDC Online Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in our volunteer program. We are no longer soliciting volunteers for GDC Online. All submitted applications will be reviewed and a decision made during the week of September 12.
If you are interested in attending GDC Online in exchange for volunteering approximately 20 hours of work (Sunday orientation not included), we encourage you to apply for our Conference Volunteer program! Volunteering not only allows you to meet and mingle with other developers; it allows you to attend conference sessions and events in exchange for your work.
GDC Online 2011 runs from Monday morning, October 10 through Thursday evening, October 13, 2011. Conference Volunteers have pre-conference assignments and a required orientation (orientation & preparing-day on Sunday, October 9, 2011). If you are accepted into the program, you are needed from the start of your orientation through the end of the conference on the evening of
Thursday, October 13, so please plan accordingly.
What are the benefits?
Complimentary registration that can be used when not on-duty. A Conference Volunteer Pass to GDC Online grants you access to:
- More than 100 sessions, summits, and keynote presentations (Monday-Thursday)
- Networking events & evening parties
- GDC Online Expo Floor (Tuesday-Wednesday)
- A one-year subscription to GDC Vault
What do we expect from you?
- We expect: Accuracy, politeness and reliability
- Dress code: Volunteer t-shirt provided by Show Management
What kind of work does the job involve?
Challenging tasks (some might require advanced degrees) such as:- Guarding doors, checking badges
- Monitoring conference sessions
- Distributing and collecting speaker evaluations
- Assisting speakers in their sessions
- Checking badges during breaks and special events
- Stuffing/assembling conference tote bags
- Answering questions from attendees
- Data entry... and much more!
What are the hours expected of volunteers?
A minimum of 20 hours of service will be assigned to volunteers during the following hours:- Conference Days: 7am-5:30pm
- Evening Events: 4:30-10pm
- An exact volunteer schedule will be sent to you as the event approaches
You will still be responsible for:
- Travel expenses to and from the conference (airfare, ground transporation, etc.)
- Hotel or housing expenses
- Expenses for all meals
NOTE: We do our best to keep the working time for every one as short and enjoyable as possible. However, while individual needs will be taken into consideration, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be granted.
